Former Boise State University defensive lineman Greg Grimes was shot dead early Monday morning outside a nightclub in Sacramento. Grimes was 31 years old.

The other four were injured in the shooting. Sacramento police chief Kathy Lester said the call about the shooting began at 1:51 am.

"I and the entire Boise State University football family are sad to know that Greg Grimes has died," Broncos coach Andy Abalos said on Twitter. "I was fortunate to be able to coach him during his senior season. He was a member of the Brotherhood who went too early. He will be missed."

Avalos was a defensive line coach in 2012 when Grimes recorded his career's highest 27 tackles. Boise State University became 49-4 in four field seasons in Grimes, when current Dallas Cowboys attack coordinator Keren Moore was the star quarterback for the first three seasons of these seasons.

According to Sacramento Bee, Grimes founded a dispatching company last year. He was also a coach at his alma mater, Sacramento's Indark Muhai.

Deborah Grimes told the newspaper that she was leaving Sacramento's Mix nightclub when her son was shot. She said Greg Grimes intends to celebrate July 4th with his 4-year-old son.

"He has never been to the streets and has no such background," Deborah Grimes told the bees. "You wouldn't expect someone like him to be killed. He doesn't fit into the troublemaker's profile, etc."

The Nathmas Unified School District, to which Indarkum belongs, made a statement on Monday. Announced.

"I'm saddened by the news of Greg Grimes' death," the district said. "Our heartfelt thoughts are in his family and friends, and in all the individuals he has connected with through his work at Indarkum High School."
