Former MPP Belinda Kalaharios named for Cambridge City Council election

Former Cambridge MPP Belinda Kalaharios will enter city government as she is listed on the city's website as a candidate for the Third Ward ahead of this fall's elections .

She is one of her five entries to the race, which includes Nate Warren, Corey Kimpson, Michele Braniff and Tracy Hippel.

The group is vying to replace Mike Mann. A former police officer who will not seek re-election this fall after serving two terms in Congress.

Kalaharius defeated Kathryn McGarry, who was elected her MPP of Cambridge in 2018 and later became mayor.

In doing so, McGarry turned things around by defeating long-time mayor Doug Craig, who is now running for a seat on the local council.
