American Samoa's 6ft 5,330 pounds are ranked 1st in tackle and 9th overall outlook by the 247Sports Composite.
Mauigoa chose a hurricane from a list of finalists including Alabama, Florida, Southern California and Tennessee.
This was the latest recruitment victory for new Miami coach Mario Cristobal, who took over the post in the last offseason. 4-star quarterback Jaden Rashada committed to the hurricane in late June, and second-placed tight-end Riley Williams committed on Friday.
Miami's 2023 recruitment class ranked 8th in the nation in the 247Sports ranking and ranked in the top 10 overall.
