Homicide detectives are investigating his death.
Police tape could be seen cordoning off a commercial property in the rural southeast end of the city at 2666 Tenth Line Road on Wednesday morning, with a police cruiser parked outside.
Police issued few details about the case as of Wednesday afternoon. No one was in custody, police said, and there was no update on the search for a suspect.
“There is no danger to the public, this was an isolated incident so there is no danger at all to the public,” said Det. Chris Benson, of the homicide unit.
Benson said police would not elaborate on details of their investigation and would not confirm any information about “locations” or about the Tenth Line Road property.
Police have not released any information on how Andrades was killed or the circumstances of his “suspicious” death.
Benson said police have not yet seen postmortem reports and would not comment on a potential cause of death.
News of his “shocking” death led to an outpouring of grief among friends of Andrades.
“The only thing I can say about Kyle is he’s the nicest guy I ever met in my life… harmless, wouldn’t hurt a soul,” said friend Raphael Ghazarian.
“He was a caring, good friend. He’d do anything for anybody… It’s crazy to me that somebody would want to hurt him. I don’t understand why anybody would want to hurt the guy.”
Andrades was well-known in the east end as the proprietor and principal physiotherapist at his Get Physical Physiotherapy clinic on Shefford Road in Gloucester.
His social media profile was flooded with messages of condolences on Wednesday.
“A bright light serving the community’s health is gone,” one woman wrote in a Facebook post. “Kyle Sebastian Andrades was the best physiotherapist because not only did he help me recover from a car accident, he also took the time to educate me on the body’s structure and maintenance… Kyle, I will miss you terribly. The community will miss your skill and your compassion.”
Another friend described Andrades as “one of the nicest, kindest, warmest” people they’d ever met.
“You will be missed by everyone you’ve been around.”
Police said they expect to provide a further update on the investigation on Thursday.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.
