Fantastic slow pitch tournament is back

After a two-year hiatus by COVID-19, the Fantastic Slow Pitch Tournament&Music Festival in Vernon is back.

From June 30th to July 3rd, 112 teams from all over Canada and the United States will participate in one of North America's largest slow-pitch tournaments. Each team requires 5 men and 5 women on the field, with over 4,500 registered players.

According to the President of the Funtastic Sports Society, it took the brave efforts of everyone involved to ensure that the tournament took place.

"Our team has been around for a while. I'm a new player on the team, but they've been waiting for a long time to return to this tournament," Tristan Wright said.

"They are really excited to go out and play the ball, so take a vacation, build a bond with your team and have fun to win the baseball game."

Then there are people like Diana Kelly and her family who are doing much more than just winning. This is her tenth year in the tournament, and she and her team will dedicate this weekend to her deceased father.
