Gausman pulled out of a Jaze match with an ankle injury

Toronto – The Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman was helped off the field in his first doubleheader match against the Tampa Bay Rays in Toronto.

Tampa shortstop Wander Franco hit Gausman with a cambacker in the second inning, and the ball bounced off the grass to the pitcher's ankle.

Gausman tried to get the ball into the field, but instead fell into his stomach on the grass at Rogers Center.

Toronto catcher Gabriel Moreno Completed play and initially threw Diaz, with Gausman still lying prone nearby.

A trainer began attending Gausman and helped him off the field when the innings were over.
