The girl's mother told The Sun that her daughter has autism and tends to run away from home
Two weeks after a 4-year-old girl died after being run over by a GO Transit train in Mississauga, a year-old girl — she is safe — was found wandering the TTC tracks at Warden Station in Scarborough.
Toronto police say she was found by her TTC personnel early Thursday morning.
"She was found at 1:40 a.m. on a railroad track. Paramedics were present, she was uninjured and she was reunited with her mother," said Const of Toronto Police. Laura Brabant said.
"No criminal charges have been filed."
A TTC media representative praised the employee for seeing the child before harm occurred.
"At about 1:30 am, he was a #TTC crew member of Line 2 who spotted a child walking along a board on the power rail (600 volts running) near Warden station. Shout out to you," tweeted a TTC media affiliate.
"The child was safely recovered and handed over to emergency responders. Excellent job!" , said he tends to run away from homes even if the door is multiple-locked.
Mitchelchuk Dumebinuwabuok, a girl who was murdered two weeks before her in Mississauga, when she and her older siblings and cousins were killed on the fence. After chasing it through a hole, I wandered into the GO tracks. Butterflies, according to her family.
Regarding Thursday's incident, a TTC media source said: I've checked the fencing in the area and it looks safe but I'll be back for a more intensive inspection.
"This is a concern, but thankfully it is a very rare occurrence."
