The top 125 players in the standings passed the qualifying and Rickie Fowler won the final ranking. … Tommy Fleetwood (individual), Daniel Berger (back injury), Nate Rushley (toe), Land Griffin (back surgery) haven't played this week. … The top 70 after this event will be eligible for the BMW Championship. … Throughout the first leg of the playoffs over the last three years, an average of 5.33 players have qualified for the BMW Championship in the Top 70. … Athletes who participated in the LIV Golf Series were banned from participating in the PGA Tour. … Memphis has been hosting annual PGA Tour events since 1958. … Patrick Cantlay is about to become the first consecutive FedEx Cup champion, but Finau aims to be the first player to successfully defend his title in the playoff opener. Finau was hit by a five-year undefeated drought at the Northern Trust last year and began the playoffs by defeating Cameron Smith in his first playoff hole. … Matt Kuchar (54th in the standings) and Adam Scott (77th) are the only two players to play in all 16 seasons of the playoffs. … Kim was the first player to win the tour in the 2000s and will make his first start as a member this week.
Best Bet: Rory McIlroy (+1000 on BetMGM) aims to be the first three winners of the FedEx Cup. His five playoff event wins are the second in history after Dustin Johnson's six. … Scottie Scheffler (+1400) is leading the tour with four wins this year and is about to join Jordan Spieth (2014-15) as the only player to win the Masters and FedEx Cup in the same season. … Smith (+1600) is off to his first start since winning the British Open. He won The Players again this year. … The Cantlay (+1600) has three straight top 10 finishes and six straight top 15 streaks, including the last time-out Rocket Mortgage Classic T2. … Justin Thomas (+1800) is qualified for the Tour Championship for the last 6 years. … Jon Rahm (+2200) finished third last year after holding a 54-hole lead. He is also off to the first start since the T34 in the open. … Finau (+2200), technically a defending champion, came to Liberty National under a different tournament name, but he has won the last two starts. The last player to win the tour three times in a row was Johnson in the 2016-17 season.
