Gaza Strip, Gaza Strip (AP) — Hamas ruler in Gaza said Monday that the condition of one of the detained Israelis had deteriorated.
This announcement provided unusual information about the Israelites who were taken prisoner of war in Hamas. The Islamic group has not disclosed details about the condition or whereabouts of the prisoners and has never allowed the Red Cross to visit them.
There was no immediate comment from Israel.
Hamas is believed to hold the bodies of two soldiers killed during the 2014 war. Israel has declared the soldier dead, but Hamas has never confirmed this.
