According to police, Project Grizzly (a month's investigation) arrested 28 people allegedly involved in the stolen vehicle business.
The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the Equite Association, the former Canadian Insurance Department, and the Niagara Police Service.
In May, detectives fired probes into organized vehicle theft rings at various locations in the Hamilton and Niagara regions.
The Equitia Association estimates that the cost of a Canadian car theft is close to $ 1 billion annually. This includes $ 542 million for insurance companies to repair or replace stolen vehicles, $ 250 million for police, medical and forensic systems, and $ millions for remediation costs. service.
