LEFEBVRE, Que. — A helicopter pilot died Tuesday evening after crashing in his private aircraft earlier in the day in Lefebvre, a small municipality in Centre-du-Québec near Drummondville.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, the aircraft was in flight for a short time when it started to lose altitude rapidly for an unknown reason. It finally crashed on the ground.
The pilot, a 64-year-old man, was alone on board and was unconscious when he was transported to a hospital by ambulance. The SQ confirmed the man’s death in the early evening.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will investigate the cause and circumstances surrounding the crash. Two investigators were deployed to collect data, take witness statements and examine the crashed helicopter.
