But this is not a movie. It's real, it's what happened in Brampton, and residents are shocked by the level of violence being displayed here.
Mayor Patrick Brown called the vicious 4th of August machete and ax attack on a Brampton real estate agent and 'Voice of the Common Man' podcaster an 'attempted murder' and accused the victims of Kudos to Joti Singh Mann's mother for stopping a barbaric assault. Worse.
"She's a hero," Brown said. "She saved her son's life."
The woman was able to ward off her attackers and cut off a piece of her son's shoe during her attack. I even threw it. The trio is still loose.
Police believe the 38-year-old victim of hers was "targeted."
Videos are hard to see. It shows Thin Man getting into a white jeep when a man suddenly chops the window with an ax and breaks it. Singh Mann tries to defend himself and three armed attackers swing at him. They then knock him to the ground and appear to stomp on him, although the footage does not capture all of the attacks. It's a crime," Brown said. "That is unacceptable."
This year is not the first time an ambush has occurred in Brampton. Peel Local Police responded to his April 16 "vicious" attacks with weapons on his two victims at Bramtree Court and Chrysler Drive. Several arrests were made in that case, and warrants were issued for other arrests. Police have not said the incidents are related, but the video shows a similar approach to a surprise attack, one of the crime victims of which, like Singh Mann, would "change his life." I got hurt.
In Brampton, Munn, better known as a media personality on his own podcast, had150 stitches and amputated his big toe. He is recovering in hospital. The motive behind this heinous ambush is unknown, but police are tracking many clues, including a threatening phone call to his show live just three days before the attack.
A strong effort is underway to solve this nasty crime, according to police sources. Brown said police were said to have a solid lead.
"I am confident that Peel County Police will arrest and prosecute [the suspect]," the mayor said.
