Homicide police investigating shooting in Burnaby after victim calls 911

Two shooting victims were found Saturday afternoon in a parked car on Highway 1 near Kensington Avenue in Burnaby.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating another deadly shooting believed to be linked to an ongoing gang conflict in the Lower Mainland.

At about 2:30 p.m., a policeman from Kensington, Burnaby was summoned to Highway 1 near Avenue. When one of his victims called his 911 today.

Police say he was found with two victims in a car on the side of the highway. When they arrived, one was already dead and the second driver had gunshot wounds.

Police are trying to determine where the shooting took place and how far the two victims drove before stopping and calling for help.

A vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting was found on fire on East Lawn Drive in Burnaby.

The Kensington exit west from SH1 is expected to remain closed for several hours while police gather evidence.
