I DO… NOT: Ring pop proposal earns would-be groom slap in the face

A man proposed to a woman with a Ring Pop at a Blue Jays game over the weekend and the outcome didn’t turn out as planned.

The couple were at one of the winning games against the Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre (based on the lighting and lack of sun, it was presumably Friday’s 9-0 blowout or Sunday’s 6-3 victory) but unlike the rest of the fans, they weren’t celebrating.

A video that has gone viral on social media shows the couple headed towards the seats and as they are walking down the aisle (no pun intended), the woman looks annoyed when the man suddenly stops.

They exchange a kiss, he gets down on one knee and her hand immediately goes up to her mouth in surprise.

Lo and behold, she got the surprise of her life when he pulls out a ring box, opens it to reveal – a bright red Ring Pop.

The disappointment on the woman’s face is immediate before it quickly switches to anger as she slaps him across the face and throws her drink in his face.

While some on social media were mortified for both parties at the prank gone wrong, others found the whole thing a little too rehearsed and weren’t buying the stunt.

“She’s evil. Let her go, he deserves better,” wrote one person, but another argued, “He gave her a ring pop. She deserves better.”

One disbeliever tweeted, “This screams ‘millennials calling attention to themselves for a weak YouTube video.’”

A second person agreed, using an Elaine Benes “Fake, fake, fake, fake, fake” meme.

However, at least one person was torn because no one is that good an actor.

“Honestly, I wanted to say it’s fake, that rage on her face was pure.”
