Jordan Montgomery and three relief pitchers from the St. Louis Cardinals gave two hits on Saturday to shut out the New York Yankees, 1-0.
Montgomery (4-3) was traded to the Cardinals for outfielder Harrison Vader just before the Yankees trade deadline on Tuesday.

The Cardinals took a 1–0 lead when Paul Goldschmidt hit his two-out double and Arenado followed with his RBI single.
They nearly attacked again in his third inning. Nolan Gorman hit a two-out single, but was thrown out trying to hit Goldschmidt's double into the right-center wall, and the Yankees threatened in his sixth inning. D.J. LeMahieu walked his Hicks with one out, and a wild pitch with two outs moved him to second base.
However, Hicks defeated Donaldson and left him behind.
The Cardinals grounded a runner in scoring position in his seventh inning. After Lars Nootvaal singled out and doubled, Yadier Molina popped out to end the inning.
