Jordan Montgomery and three relief pitchers from the St. Louis Cardinals gave two hits on Saturday to shut out the New York Yankees, 1-0.

Montgomery (4-3) was traded to the Cardinals for outfielder Harrison Vader just before the Yankees trade deadline on Tuesday.

LeMahieu walked his Hicks with one out, and a wild pitch with two outs moved him to second base.

The Cardinals grounded a runner in scoring position in his seventh inning. After Lars Nootvaal singled out and doubled, Yadier Molina popped out to end the inning.
