Garbin is a key witness for the government. He agreed to cooperate soon after his arrest and pleaded guilty. Caleb Franks has pleaded guilty and plans to testify.
Prosecutors say Fox and Croft wanted to cause a national rebellion. The government says its disgust with COVID-19 restrictions is what prompted the kidnapping plot in 2020. But defense attorneys allege that undercover FBI agents and rogue operatives created the plan.
Garvin said he practiced in a homemade "shoot house" to simulate abduction and trained remotely with Fox, Croft and others. He told jurors how Elk he went to Rapids at night to see Whitmer's villa and a bridge that could be blown up to distract police during the attack.
"It wasn't someone else's idea to get involved, it was my own," Garvin said when asked by his agent if he had been trapped.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Nils Kessler asked if Fox and Croft were reluctant.
"No," Garvin replied. "Very keen to move it forward."
Galvin's testimony was tougher than the first trial. Last spring, he said the kidnapping of a Democratic governor could "ignite" a civil war and "prevent Joe Biden from winning the presidency."
But Kessler didn't ask the question on Tuesday or Wednesday to get the answer.
Fox, 39, is from Grand He lives in the Rapids area and Croft, 46, is from Bear, Delaware.
Whitmer argued that then-President Donald Trump would incite distrust of coronavirus regulations, foment anger, and denounce hate groups and right-wing extremists, such as those accused of conspiracy. accused of refusal.
