Atlanta (AP) — Rudy Giuliani will perform as scheduled No, a special grand jury in Atlanta Tuesday is investigating whether former President Donald Trump and others tried to illegally interfere in the 2020 Georgia general election, his lawyers said.

Last month, a judge ordered Trump attorney and former New York City mayor Giuliani to appear before a special grand jury on Tuesday.

However, Giuliani's attorney, Robert Costello, told the Associated Press on Monday that Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney, who is overseeing the special grand jury, asked Giuliani to attend that day. McBurney has scheduled a hearing for 12:30 p.m. On Tuesday, to hear a discussion of a court filing that is trying to delay Giuliani's appearance.

Fulton County District Attorney Fanny Willis launched an investigation early last year, and a special grand jury with subpoena powers at her request sat her down in May.

Last month, she filed a petition seeking to compel testimony from seven of her Trump advisers and associates, including Giuliani. Because they do not live in Georgia, she had to use the process of summoning a judge in the state they live in.

New York Supreme Court Judge Thomas Farber ordered Giuliani on July 13 to appear before a special grand jury on August 9 and on any other date the Atlanta court ordered.

In a petition seeking Giuliani's testimony, Willis revealed that he was Trump's personal attorney and the lead counsel for his campaign.

She wrote that he and others had submitted video recordings of election officials to a subcommittee of the Georgia Senate. It claimed that Giuliani had shown that he had created a "suitcase" of illegal ballots. The office said it had debunked the video and found no voter fraud on the site. Nevertheless, Giuliani continued to make statements to the public, claiming widespread voter fraud using the debunked video in subsequent legislative hearings, Willis wrote. Evidence that Giuliani's appearance and testimony at the hearing was "part of a coordinated multi-state plan by the Trump campaign to influence the outcome of the November 2020 elections in Georgia and elsewhere." indicates, the petition states.
