Lethbridge hostage survivors call for blood and plasma donations

It's been less than a month since Kathryn Linder was stabbed multiple times in the neck after being taken hostage in her downtown Lethbridge office.

Rinder says he has been back home for two weeks and is still recovering from his experience and is doing well.

"The recovery was faster than anyone expected," Linder said. She ``I thought she was actually still in the hospital.''

On July 14, police received a call regarding an armed woman within Lethbridge Legal Guidance.

Police say woman had knife and forced Rinder out, broke into the office and took the suspect into custody before entering the building.

Meanwhile, Rinder was taken to the hospital, sustaining her life-threatening injuries. She had surgery and needed a blood transfusion.

Friends and family have made more than 100 donations. She started a blood donation and plasma campaign to honor Linder.

Rinder again It will be months before she can donate, but Canadians, blood service workers, and those in need of donations are still feeling her impact.

"When did something like this happen? '' said Brena Scott, business development manager at Lethbridge Canadian Blood Services. It really means a lot to us.”

The blood donation will continue until Thursday and people can register with the team name 50 Shades of Red.

Linder has always considered donating blood and plasma to be a personal responsibility, but she now has a special meaning.

``I was really touched by the idea. They wanted to do something like this for me. It's important," Rinder said.

"You saved my life, and you saved my life."
