A FedEx driver abducted the child and has confessed to her killing.
Maitlyn Presley Gandy, 26, posted a video on her Facebook page that shows Athena’s younger sister Rye sobbing for her sister on a day in November when the two girls were apart.
The post notes, “I kept telling her, ‘it’s okay, we will see sissy soon.’ not knowing how twisted our lives would become,” the grieving mother wrote.
And she wrote how Rye always cried when her older sister was going somewhere without her — a sorrow Athena’s killer has extended indefinitely for all.
Gandy also posted a TikTok video of Athena dancing in a pink dress, writing, “Music, singing, and dancing are things Athena was constantly doing.”
She wrote of her gratitude for the support “for Athena’s legacy” that has come from all quarters. Gandy also thanked people, “for sharing Athena’s photos and story. Please don’t stop.
