RCMP say the person may have been hit by a vehicle.
Mounties in Nanaimo are investigating after a body was found on the side of a road early Friday.
At about 7 a.m., a person out for an early-morning walk found the body on the north side of Harewood Mines Road, according to RCMP. Officers cordoned off the area for the investigation and the coroner was called to the site.

Investigators say the person’s injuries are consistent with being hit by a motor vehicle.
RCMP later identified the person as a 34-year-old man, who had no fixed address. His family has been notified.
Mounties are asking anyone who may have dash cam video or CCTV footage in the area before 7 a.m. to call Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, and quote file # 2023-3059.
