ORION TOWNSHIP, Michigan (AP) — A cleaning service employee who worked at a General Motors plant in Michigan died Thursday during an argument with a colleague, officials said.

It is not clear what caused the fighting at the Orion Assembly Plant in Orion Township, or how the individual was killed. Authorities said they had recovered items used in the assault but did not say what they were.

Sheriffs were called to the factory around 1:40 a.m. and found 49-year-old Gregory Robertson unconscious and bleeding, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Deputies tried to reinstate him, but were unsuccessful.

A 48-year-old man was arrested while standing on a nearby dock, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Both men worked for his GM-contracted cleaning service and were not employees of the automaker. Robertson, of Pontiac, north of Detroit, worked at an assembly plant about 40 miles (62 km) northwest of Detroit for about seven months, the sheriff's office said.

The automaker said in a statement that it had canceled production at its factories on Thursday.
