A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a 63-year-old woman was murdered in northeast Edmonton

A man has been charged with killing a 63-year-old woman following an altercation last weekend in northeast Edmonton.

Police responded to complaints about weapons at a residence near 162 Avenue and 52 Street shortly before 6:30 pm on Saturday, August 6.

Police arrived and found the woman dead and the teenage girl injured.

A 17-year-old girl was taken to hospital with "serious but not life-threatening" injuries, according to her EPS update on Tuesday.
