Police said the man contacted the victim on Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, and Snapchat and agreed to buy "various products, mainly designer shoes and clothing."

Officers said the man would meet the victim and pay for the item using a fraudulent check deposited through mobile banking.

"There are more checks than purchased items, and the victim will return the difference to the man," the officer said in a news release. "The check was put on hold and determined to be fraudulent."
