Man injured in police-involved shooting in downtown Vancouver

Police responded to reports of a man with a weapon near Cambie and Cordova Streets Monday night.

A man was taken to hospital following a police-involved shooting in downtown Vancouver late Monday.

Officers with the Vancouver Police Department and Metro Vancouver Transit Police responded to reports of a man with a weapon in the 300-block of Cambie Street, near Cordova Street, just after 10 p.m.

When officers arrived, the man was still in possession of that weapon, said police. During an interaction with officers, the man was shot. He was taken to hospital.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has been notified.
