According to Pete Dalliday, the play-by-play commentator for the Ontario Hockey League’s Peterborough Petes and National Lacrosse League’s Halifax Thunderbirds, Mike attended the game with Craig Meredith, of Peterborough.

“He couldn’t have been happier heading back to (Peterborough after the game),” Dalliday tweeted. “It was the last thing on his bucket list. Mike said goodbye to the world this morning in his sleep a happy man.”

“A sad but incredible story. Good job, Craig Meredith. You’re a good fella with a big heart,” Dailliday said in a follow-up tweet.

The Maple Leafs caught wind of the story and made a tweet of their own, saying they were honoured to have Mike in the building.

We were honoured to have Mike in the building on Wednesday💙

Our hearts go out to his family & friends. Leafs Nation is thinking of him. https://t.co/3oxFH6Hy8U
