Heading into the season, goaltending remains one of the biggest question marks for the Toronto Maple Leafs. But it might be as big of a deal as some fans — and media — are making it out to be.

According to BetOnline.ag, the team’s Stanley Cup-winning odds have increased from 12-to-1 on June 26 to 17-2 on Oct. 6 since acquiring Matt Muray and Ilya Samsonov in free agency.

Only the defending champion Colorado Avalanche (4-to-1) have better odds.

Meanwhile, Florida’s decision to replace Jonathan Huberdeau with Matthew Tkachuk has increased that team’s Cup-winning chances from 12-to-1 to 11-to-1. Calgary, which acquired Huberdeau in a trade from Florida and then added Nazem Kadri in free agency to replace the loss of Johnny Gaudreau, incurred an even greater increase, going from 20-to-1 to 12-to-1.

Edmonton, which acquired goalie Jack Campbell in free agency, also went from 14-to-1 to 12-to-1.
