Host Miami Marlins watched the Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani play as a designated hitter in the league match on Tuesday night. On Wednesday, they will play against Pitcher Otani.

The club closed the two-game series on Wednesday, with Otani (7-4, 2.68 ERA) playing against the Marlins left-handed Trevor Rogers (4-6, 5.56).

This series is the first time Otani has played in Miami in his career.

With the Marlins 2-1 victory on Tuesday, Otani finished with three at-bats and no runs.

"I can follow him all day and see him all day," said Phil Nevin, Interim Manager of the Angels. "Here we have DH day and we can see his pitch (Wednesday) so we can see all of him."

In the case of the Marlins, they are full of Otani Experience the skill set. The ability to hit and pitch at high levels sets it apart from other players.

"He's an exciting man," Nevin said. "It's even more exciting because he can be in his room. It's most impressive to me just to see him work every day."

American League Most Valuable in 1985 Player Award-winning Marlins manager Don Mattingly is an honor Otani won last year and is amazed at how Otani handles pitching and hitting grinds.

"Body damage alone takes a lot of mental time to do that," Mattingly said.

On the mound, Otani is an impressive presence. Right-handed pitchers have 74 innings, 101 strikeouts and 17 walks. This is an average of 12.28 strikeouts and 2.07 walks for 9 innings.

"Not only (throw and hit), but do it really well," Mattingly said. "You can think of him as a CyYoung-type guy, and you can think of him as an MVP. That's both sides of this. That's pretty cool."

For the Marlins, Rogers Is trying to get the season on track. The National League Glucky for the 2021 Best Rookie of the Year Award was 2-2, with an ERA of 6.56 in the last seven starts.

Southpaw, who has never faced the Angels, has not yet shown the consistency shown last year.

Rogers' strikeouts have decreased and his steps have increased since a year ago. In 2021, he averaged 10.62 strikeouts and 3.11 strikeouts per game, but this year they are 8.21 strikeouts and 4.50 strikeouts.

The first batter Rogers will face on Wednesday may be Jonathan Villar, the Angels third baseman who spent half-season with the Marlins in 2020. Biller was released from the Chicago Cubs in late June. Then he signed Los Angeles over the weekend. The Angels are trying him out in the lead-off spot, but he's 0-7 in two games.

"We're going to see what it looks like," Nevin said. "His best year came with him from the lead-off spot ... I think he can spark."

Angels lost four games in a row rice field. I lost 7 of the last 10 games. The Marlins, on the other hand, have won six straight games.

"I feel at least some things are bouncing back our way," Mattingly said. "When I hit these little streaks, it feels like the ball is bouncing. We're doing some things that are working.

" No stretch yet throughout the season It was. It's been the case for the last few days. Now you're riding the waves as much as you can. "
