Edward Cabrera pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings to lead the Miami Marlins to a 3-0 victory over the hosts Philadelphia Phillis on Thursday afternoon.

Cabrera (3-1) stole six hitters on his three-hit two walks. The right-hander, who has appeared in just five games this year and has appeared in 12 games, has slashed his ERA to 2.05 this season from his 2.61.

The Phillies failed to get a runner past second base against Cabrera, where he retired 11 of his last 12 batters in a match.

Relief Stephen Okart, Dylan Frollo and Tanner Scott shut out the game. Scott earned his 16th save and the first of a four-out type after settling a jam he created.

Joey Wendle led the Miami offense, going 2-for-4 with a triple and he had an RBI to beat the skids the Marlins lost in his two games.

Kyle Gibson (7-5) got off to a quality start, but in the loss he allowed six hits, two walks, three runs and two earned runs.

Gibson quickly ran into trouble as Wendle led the game with a triple. Miguel Rojas and Garrett Cooper walk the bases without out. However, Gibson escaped the damage by having JJ Bleday line out to second base and Nick Fortes to a double play on the ground.

The Marlins scored in his second inning. Lewyn Diaz reached for a defensive error on first baseman Rhys Hoskins. Diaz scored on Luke's Williams bloop on his single to move him to third and on Wendle's single.

His sixth inning for Miami opened with two straight outs for him before Fortes and Charles his Leblanc singled. Fortes scored as Gibson bounced back a wild pitch. LeBlanc, who stole second and advanced on a wild pitch, scored on Diaz's double.

Philadelphia faced Frollo in his eighth inning. Leadoff batter Matt Biering's deep drive was beaten on the right field caution track by Brady. However, the next batter, Brandon Marsh, hit a double off the right-center wall. After Hoskins walked Alec Bohm was caught looking at his 3-2 sinker with low potential.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly then brought in Scott. A real mute on a high fastball.
