ST. John, N.B. — On a three-point night from Xavier Burgo, Shawinigan Cataract beat Hamilton Bulldog 3-2 in a round-robin play at the Memorial Cup on Thursday.

Bourgault and Mavrik Bourque each provided scoring assistance, and Olivier Nadeau provided one assist to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Champion.

Mason McTabish started scoring the Bulldogs at 5:08, and Avery Hayes scored a goal in the second half of the second period, even scoring 2-2.

Nado filled the game's winner 7:06 third and scored Shawinigan's third power play goal.

Catalactes goalkeeper Antoine Coulombe made 38 saves and Marco Costantini stopped 31 of the Bulldog's 34 shots.

Ontario Hockey League Champion Hamilton (0-2-0) will face Western Hockey League Championship winner Edmonton Oil Kings (1-1-0) on Friday. Shawinigan (2-0-0) will face host St. John Sea Dogs (1-0-1) at the Round Robin Finale on Saturday.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been canceled for the last two years. This four-team championship will feature three major junior league winners and host teams.
