Mississauga man wins first-ever lottery $1 million

A man from Mississauga hit the jackpot when he decided to buy a lottery ticket for the first time in his life.

Nathaniel Marksman won up to $1 million in prizes in the June 3rd draw of the Lotto His Max.According to a news release from the Ontario Lotto and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

"When I was checking my ticket at the store, it showed all zeros, so I thought the machine was broken," Marksman said in a release.

"I asked the store clerk for help, and they said it wasn't broken. I was shocked and surprised, and got in the car and cried tears of joy."

"He laughed and was shocked. I was getting beaten, because the first time I played, I won. I'm on top of the world," he said.

Marksman, who works at a toy store, said his mother would use the winnings to help pay off his mortgage and would share it with his own care.

"I want to make sure the future of his niece and nephew is safe," he said.

He purchased his winning ticket at a Shell gas station on Rexwood Road in Mississauga.
