There are eight games at 7 p.m. or later in Major League Baseball tonight. Here are some player prop picks to consider.

HOU Justin Verlander over 6.5 strikeouts +120 (bet365)

There’s a few things at play here. After clinching a playoff spot for the first time since 2011, the Phillies may give a bunch of their starters a night off after celebrating. That would obviously work in Verlander’s favour. However, with nothing left to play for, the Astros may limit Verlander in his final start before the postseason. Even so, the Astros starter has the ability to fan seven hitters in a short amount of time. I’ll bet on the likely AL Cy Young winner in this matchup.

SF David Villar over 0.5 total bases -125 (DraftKings)

On the season, San Diego Padres left-hander Sean Manaea has had a rough go against righty hitters this year allowing a .509 slugging percentage. Villar doesn’t have a large sample size at the MLB level, but one thing he’s been able to do is hit lefties. In 72 plate appearances this season, Villar is slashing .302/.389/.619 vs. southpaws. With the prop sitting at 0.5, we only need a single base hit to get the over.

COL Ryan Feltner over 2.5 earned runs -110 (bet365)

With their spot in the postseason already locked up, the Dodgers may decide to rest a few of their stars down the stretch, but even if they do, they have enough depth to be an above-average offence. Ryan Feltner has struggled this season with an ERA of 6.01. He’s allowed at least three earned runs in each of his last seven games away from Coors Field. If the Dodgers do run out their “A” lineup tonight, that makes me feel even better about this prop.
