Montreal police say two men were arrested in connection with the theft of millions of dollars in 11 minivans.
Maikol Richard Martinez Cabrera and Firas Al Najem were arrested on June 12, and Montreal police said Thursday in astatement.
This operation recovered 11 vehicles stolen from a warehouse in northern Montreal. The value of the confiscated vehicle is estimated to be about $ 2 million, police said.
Martinez Cabrera was arrested in the parking lot while he was in a vehicle reportedly stolen. Police confirmed with the criminal investigator who provided the information to reach the address in the northern part of the city.
In a private location, police said he found Al Nagem driving another stolen minivan. When they arrested him, he said he had a remote control for a nearby garage door. Police searched the garage, found nine other stolen vehicles, and were immediately confiscated.
Martinez Cabrera and Arnagem appeared in the Montreal court on June 13 and were charged with conspiracy, possession of over $ 5,000 stolen goods, possession of banned weapons, and possession of a master key. They were released to the next stage of litigation proceedings under some conditions.
Police are trying to determine if the case may be related to other thefts and if there are other co-conspirators.
