According to a statement by the Montreal police on Thursday, one of the investigations targeted a drug trafficking network that operated in Montreal and north of Montreal.
When the police arrested one of the suspects in Kirkland, a 48-year-old man, “a cardboard box containing 30 kilograms of cocaine was inside his vehicle. A second 28-year-old suspect was arrested in Kirkland shortly after. Three containers containing 46 kilograms of cocaine were seized from his vehicle. Finally, a search carried out in a Laval residence led to the seizure of an additional four kilograms of cocaine and the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect.
“These three seizures by the SPVM also made it possible to find nearly $8,000 in cash, a stun gun, crack and MDMA (ecstasy).”
In the other investigation, a 32-year-old suspect was arrested Wednesday afternoon in St-Léonard “while he was removing a hockey bag filled with drugs from his vehicle. Inside the bag, the police found 25 kilograms of cocaine.”
Eight other people were arrested during the same police operation, as suspects in the same network. More than $500,000 in cash and four kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were also seized.
