Multiple hospitalized, suspect shot dead in Vancouver's Granville Street assault

Several people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a massive police storm in downtown Vancouver's main entertainment district Saturday night.

Vancouver Police said on Twitter around 1:30 a.m. Sunday that he, one of those taken to the hospital, was an armed suspect and was shot by police.

The VPD did not specify the type of weapon the suspect had or how many people were injured in the incident on the He 900 block of Granville Street.

A patron of Roxy Cabaret, one of several clubs and live music venues in the area, told CTV News that the store was evacuated after the incident came to light.

In a Facebook post, Roxy Cabaret said it was closing early "due to an incident at a nearby store" and revealed no staff or patrons. Did. embroiled in riots.
