A Campbellton, N.B. RCMP police officer was charged with assault in connection with last year's arrest after an investigation by theBureau des enquêtes indépendantes(BEI) in Quebec. rice field.
According to the RCMP, the allegations originated in July 2021 when a police officer responded to a "report of a man who shook a stick and entered a local business."
"When police arrived, the man resisted arrest and there was a quarrel between RCMP members and the man," said a news release in July 2021.
"The man refused treatment and was detained."

Witnesses of the incident, Cameron McDonald, told Global News at the time, saw a young man coming out of Tim Hortons with a policeman holding his arms. He said the man was trying to escape, and police officers took him to the ground.
McDonald's described what he saw afterwards as a "brutal strike."
The issue was referred to BEI and the relevant officers held management positions until the review was conducted.
On Wednesday, the state's Legal and Public Security Bureau updated the case, concluding that there was a reason for the criminal accusation, and stated that a brief charge was filed against Pieric Caron on June 30. rice field.
"The evidence gathered during the investigation provided a reasonable basis for believing that the crime was committed," the agency wrote in a news release.
"The Bureau's report was submitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office and the evidence was determined to meet the prosecution's criteria."
