NATO Director General Visits Canada to Meet with Prime Minister Trudeau on Ukraine and Arctic Defense

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will visit Canada next week.

The ongoing Russian invasion ofUkraine,climate change,the Arctic,defense were the main focus of the meeting between Stoltenberg and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. will be the focus.

The two will stop on Thursday at one of the sites of the Northern Warning System, part of Canada's Norad defenses, in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, according to the prime minister's office.

What's next The next day, they visit the Royal Canadian Air Force Base in Cold Lake, Alta, and conclude their trip with a bilateral conference.

Stortenberg's last visit to Canada was in July 2019, and his last meeting with Trudeau was in Spain in June of this year.

During that trip, Trudeau and Defense Minister Anita Anand sent a Canadian-led battle group in Latvia to a combat-capable brigade.
