On Wednesday, theBritish Columbia Nature Trustannounced that it had purchased 65 hectares (161 acres) of private land in theWhite Lake Basinarea. Did.

The newly acquired land, called Park Rill Creek Infill West, was surrounded by ranches. After purchase, the ranch now spans 8,287 hectares (20,478 acres).
The Nature Trust, a non-profit organization, says it has been acquiring land in the area since 1996. The ranch is made up of 13 lots and "demonstrates a commitment to building a large-scale shelter over time."

"The continuous natural grasslands and associated ecosystems thrive with a diversity of native plants and animals. It supports thriving communities and is recognized as one of BC's most threatened ecosystems," said the Nature Trust.
"Grasslands make up less than 1% of the state's land base, but support more than 30% of BC's known threatened and vulnerable plant and animal species."
The Nature Trust says it raised $200,000 through a crowdfunding campaign earlier this year.
