ASBURY PARK — NEW JERSEY Dogs frolicked on the sand and jumped from plastic pool to pool while owners enjoyed their drinks outside Wonder Bar, a hangout and music venue in the state's famous Asbury Park Beach Town. , wrap in sprinklers.
It's yuppy hour.
Three days a week from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, owners take their pets off leash and grab a drink from the outdoor bar. Dogs dig in the sand, run on decks, and cool off in pools. Watched by a "dog bouncer" who intervenes if the dog becomes aggressive. Admission is $10 and supports animal welfare organizations.
Wonder Bar, across the boardwalk from Asbury Park, is his only performance space in this Jersey Shore town known for great rock singers such as Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bonn his Jovi. There is none.
