New multi-use trail linking Waterloo's Northfield Station and St. Jacob's Market

A new multi-use trail between St. Jacob's Market and Northfield ION Station officially opened Thursday.

The trail that runs along the railway corridor is open to those who want to run, cycle or walk between the two locations.

The Waterloo region says the 1.5-kilometer trail will be maintained during the winter to allow for sustainable transportation year-round.

The trail also has spots for decorative installations, benches, and bike racks with space for future bike shares and scooter share stations.

The Market Trail is ready for the community to enjoy.
