New Westminster police say officers seized last month an estimated $2.4 million dollars worth of illicit drugs, including eight kilograms of suspected fentanyl powder.
On Nov. 27, an officer on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle that had both front-end damage and was registered as failing to stop for police in a neighbouring municipality.

The officer conducted a traffic stop to speak to the driver, and during a search of the vehicle found a large quantity of drugs, according to New Westminster police.
The driver was arrested and police seized approximately: Eight kilograms of suspected fentanyl powder; 500 grams of suspected fentanyl pills; 1.5 kilograms of suspected crystal methamphetamine; And 1.5 kilograms of suspected heroin.
“Drug offences negatively impact our communities at many different levels, and we’re very impressed with the exceptional work that was done by this officer,” said Sgt Justine Thom, a spokesperson for the NWPD.
Police did not release the name of the person arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
