'Predator' sequel casts North Saskatchewan actor

The 24-year-old member, who hails from the Makuwa-Sargaykhan Indigenous People of northern Saskatchewan, is in the limelight after appearing in the prequel to thePredatorfilm series.

Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat stars as the character Itsee in his sci-fi action film called Prey, the fifth installment in thePredator series. I'm here. It was an incredible moment when we found out that Kytwayhat was auditioning for a franchise. ’ I just thought,” he said. “Actually, a day or two before I left for Los Angeles, my [management] team said, 'Harlan, don't be surprised. The movie you audition for.(It) was a big deal.”

The film will hit Disney Plus on August 5, 2022. Published in When the film first streamed, Kytwayhat felt the hype surrounding the film and his role in it.

"I actually stayed up until 3 a.m. to wait for the movie to come out [and] watched it," he said. “When I [woke up] and looked at Instagram and Reddit, a lot of people were like, 'Oh my God... no way this is crazy.' I still go back and read those comments. Read, 'I like to think about these things' It's kind of like a fan in a way (who) really just supports … I still love every moment of it.

In preparation for the film, Kytwayhat demonstrated his archery skills before filming. He and the film crew were in boot camp where he trained for a month, where he ran scenarios, trained, and learned how to shoot Comanche archery.

Kytwayhat grew up in the town of Meadow Lake, half an hour from his hometown of Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation. He was discovered while working at a community golf club.

"I think people who happened to work in the film and television industry came in for lunch and something flashed in their heads," he said. "They came over to me after the meal and chatted, and here I am four years later.

Kytwayhat also appeared in the TV series Shoresy and Tribal. He is currently in another film calledWarrior Strong. He will return to Makuwa Sargaykhan First Nation after filming and will continue to audition for films in the future.
