Okanagan Talent Soars at Red Bird Brewing Music Festival

Live music was a top priority when the owners of Red Bird Brewing Company decided to renovate and expand their facility.

The Nest Fest music festival was exactly what they had in mind for their redesigned space.

"People come here and their eyes pop out of their heads and they say amazing things because they only know he started in a 30-seat room," says Red Bird. said Brewing's Adam Semeniuk. "It's always been the plan to get here, and within five years it's happened. It's amazing."

First Nestfest to celebrate 5th anniversary of brewery and 4th as live music hub , paired with great beer and great music. The event was set to become an annual event, with 22 bands taking the stage in front of his nearly 1,500 people over the course of three days.

"Many local musicians perform here regularly. We do three or four gigs and filter out of town guests,” he says Semeniuk. “We have 80% local talent and we brought in headliners from Vancouver and some DJs from Vancouver, but mostly they are local bands that have been playing here for four years.

For Kelowna band The Nomads, appearing at the festival is a moment that comes full circle.

"We formed at a Red Bird event a few years ago," said James Gass, lead singer of Nomads and his guitarist Rhythm. "I'm not in a band, I was listening to music on Canada Day, and I happened to meet a gentleman with long hair. He's our bass player now... We're on our first EP and Just finished a single."

Hatherly of Kansas will play with the Osoyoos as Kansas-Lee has played the venue for years.

"They hired me a few times to play when we were just in the smaller building...then they expanded into this [larger venue]," said Hatherly. "I hadn't seen this since [being out of town], so I came back a week ago and I was like, 'Wow.
