One person taken to hospital after head-on crash in Centretown West

Firefighters had to free a person who was trapped in a vehicle after a two-vehicle head-on crash at Gladstone Avenue and Rochester Street Monday morning.

The Ottawa Paramedic Service said that paramedics treated one adult and took them to the hospital in stable condition with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Finding one person trapped, firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle and used specialized tools to remove both doors from the driver’s side to reach the person, Ottawa Fire Services said.

The person was safely freed and in paramedics’ care at 7:06 a.m. For safety’s sake, firefighters disconnected the vehicles’ batteries and spread absorbent material on the road to mop up  the leaking fluids.
