The Ontario Provincial Police said Sunday one of its officers was airlifted to hospital after a pickup truck suspected to be stolen struck a police cruiser during a traffic stop.
The OPP said its Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry detachment is investigating the incident, which it said occurred just before 9 a.m. Sunday on Highway 401 at the Lancaster, Ont., eastbound exit off-ramp.

The officer was taken to an Ottawa hospital via Ornge air ambulance with serious but not life-threatening injuries, the OPP said.
The Highway 401 on and off ramps eastbound at Lancaster were both closed for the investigation. There was also a partial lane closure impacting the right-lane eastbound.
OPP technical collision investigators, a reconstructionist, forensic identification services and aviation services were assisting in the investigation.
