Ottawa police seeking suspect in sexual assault in Centretown

The attack occurred inside an apartment building near Maclaren and Metcalfe streets between 9:30 and 11 p.m. on Thursday.

The Ottawa Police Service has requested public assistance in identifying a suspect in a sexual assault in a Centretown building on Thursday night.

In a media release on Saturday, the police service said the attack occurred inside an apartment building near Maclaren and Metcalfe streets between 9:30 and 11 p.m. on Thursday.

The victim was approached by an unknown male and sexual assaulted, police said.

The suspect was described as a white man between the ages of 23 and 29, standing approximately six feet tall with a thin build. The description added he had blue eyes and short, blond hair and was wearing blue jeans and a grey, pulled-up hooded sweatshirt.

The release said investigators were asking anyone who witnessed something suspicious in the area at that time or was a neighbourhood resident with a security video camera to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault Child Abuse Section at 613-236-1222, extension 5944.
