Jerusalem (AP) —Palestinian men shot by Israeli troops on the occupied west bank died on Sunday injured, Palestinian officials said rice field.

Israeli troops said on Saturday that soldiers were attacked "during routine security operations near the town of Java" in the northern west coast. The Israeli army fired at a man suspected of throwing a fire bomb, saying the case was under consideration.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs identified the man as 19-year-old Camel Abdullah Alwane from near the city of Genin and accused him of his killing.

Alwane's death was the latest in a surge of deadly violence on the West Bank in recent months.

Israeli troops launched daily raids in Palestinian towns and villages following a series of deadly attacks by Palestinians who killed 19 Israelites. Some of the attackers came from the Genin area. Dozens of Palestinians were killed in the Israeli military assault.

Most of the dead are said to have fired at the Israeli army or threw stones and fire bombs. The dead also include at least two apparent passers-by.

Along with nearly 3 million Palestinians living under Israeli military control, nearly 500,000 Israeli settlers live in more than 130 settlements scattered on the west coast.

Israel occupied the West Bank during the 1967 Middle East War, and Palestinians want it as the center of the future nation. Israel sees the West Bank as the biblical and historical center of the Jews.

Palestinians and many international communities consider the reconciliation of the West Bank of Israel to be a violation of international law and an obstacle to the peaceful resolution of decades of conflict.
