Park in Coquitlam closed because of fire

Metro Vancouver said as of Saturday afternoon the blaze at Minnekhada Regional Park was under control.

A Coquitlam park was closed Saturday after a fire broke out.

Metro Vancouver said Minnekhada Regional Park, a 200-hectare natural park in northeast Coquitlam alongside the Pitt River, was closed to ensure public safety after a fire broke out.

The regional district said that thanks to the early efforts of fire crews the blaze was under control and not spreading.
