Las Vegas (AP) — Police said a knife-wielding psychiatric patient stabbed one and injured another at a hospital in Las Vegas on Thursday.
Metro police said the puncture wound occurred in the psychiatric ward of the University Medical Center. They called it an "isolated incident" and said the hospital remained open.
Police did not immediately identify the suspect, except that he was in his forties.
They said the man left the room and fatally stabbed a male patient in another room for unknown reasons. The suspect then stabbed another patient in the hallway and was later detained in his room by a prison officer.
The condition of the second victim was not released immediately.
Police said a murder investigator was on the scene and investigating the case.
