The net effect of intimidation and violence is to discourage women, especially from minority groups, from participating in public life
She was surprised when she first received threats of sexual violence. It was a response, or more precisely, a sullen response to a column in which I denigrated gamers. They didn't like what I had to say about them. Many of them chose to threaten me in no particular order, including death and gang rape.
If I remember correctly, this happened in the mid-2000s and lasted about three years.
I think this topic makes you very uncomfortable. Of course. From sexual violence, very crude calls for rape, FHRITP (Google at your peril) being yelled at while a female broadcast journalist is doing a live hit, to 'softer' forms of harassment such as selfish hands , all the way down to action, it's hard to stand up to physical and literal sexual assault.

Show everyone that you are a healthy and safe human being. And trolls never stop, so never stop. A girl who needs you is growing up now. There are grown women out there who need you. And most of all, you need to be that kind of man yourself.
Some of us can stare at sexual violence and toxic masculinity. Personally, I believe it made me stronger, but it comes at a significant price. Not everyone should go through it just to strengthen their skin. Don't ask too much.
