The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) raises serious concerns On Saturday, he said the action indicated a risk of a nuclear disaster in the previous day's gunfire at the Zaporizhya nuclear power plant in Ukraine.

"I am very concerned about the bombardment at Europe's largest nuclear power plant yesterday, which could threaten Ukraine's public health and the environment. Rafael Mariano Grossi, Secretary-General, said in a statement.

Grossi, who heads the UN Nuclear Observatory, is on all sides of the Ukrainian conflict. Encouraged to exercise "maximum restraint" around the plant.

Shell struck a high-voltage power line at the plant on Friday, urging its operator to shut down the reactor, even though no radioactive leaks were detected. The plant was captured by Russian troops in early March at the beginning of the war, but is still operated by Ukrainian engineers.
